Chapter 4: Master Plan

Wren looks into Doctor's eyes and asks So what's wrong, what's going on?” Doctor's smile turns into a frown as he answers “I have someone threatening this race. We need to find out what he's doing and try to stop it, while protecting this race as much as we can.” Wren nods and looks around the room, then looks back at Doctor. “So who is he?” Doctor puts a hand on his hip as he wipes at his mouth with a sigh of stress. “His name is the Master. He's a Time Lord, like I am.” Wren looks at Doctor with confusion. “A Time Lord? You're an alien? I thought you were just a human with a weird blue box.” Doctor looks to the side. Knowing these questions all too well. “Yes, I'm a Time Lord. I come from the planet Gallifrey. In your case, I am an alien. The 'blue box' is called the TARDIS, it stands for time and relative dimensions in space.” Doctor stays quiet for a few after finishing his statement, wondering why he said all that. He looks at Wrens facial expression. Wren quietly thought of all the information that was just told to her.

I can't believe the man that saved me, is an alien. But I guess that gives me more reason to hate human beings. Why must I be one? She couldn't decide if she was excited or confused. But she felt a painful pressure weigh down on her heart. “That explains why I'm here.” She stayed quiet after saying that. Doctor looked down at Wren, she was looking at the floor. He grabbed her by the shoulders, causing her to look up. Sadness was in her eyes as he looked into them. “Wren, you're brilliant. The whole human race is brilliant.” Wren looked away, shaking her head with pained doubt. “Humans are nothing.” Doctor could feel the harsh hatred come out of her voice. “Oh Wren. You have no idea how wrong you are.” He pulled her into a firm, comforting hug. Wren was surprised for a second, with her head on his chest. Two steady heart beats thumping, following each other in her ear. She quickly looked up at Doctor, a small but knowing grin was on his face.

He has two hearts. Wren thought as continued to listen to his hearts beat. It gave her a weird familiar feeling. As if she knew this beat before. “Doctor.” Wren heard a voice behind Doctor. He let go of her and turned around to the superior. “Yes?” He asked with his hands in his tan trench coat. Causing it to give way to his dark brown suit. “What's going to happen?” The superior asked Doctor. Doctor looked around the room, seeing many worried faces. He felt stress weigh down on his shoulders as he looked back at the superior. “Wren, and I will think of something.” Doctor said as he took a glimp at Wren hint-fully. The superior nodded with hope as he walked back to his group. Murmurs could be heard as the superior joined back with his group. Doctor looked at Wren before looking down at the floor, his arms crossed in thought. Wren looks away from Doctor as her mind started to race. She felt so confused, she was swept away from her suicide in less than a day.

She was already helping an alien race? She had no idea who the Master was. She barely even knew the Doctor. Now she was in outer space, in a space ship. Everything that used to be dreams, were now reality. But she wants to help him as much as she can.
She quickly walks over to Doctor, keeping her sight on him. Doctor looks up from the ground seeing her rush towards him, he uncrosses his arms and stands. “What do you expect me to do? I have no idea how to save an alien race. I can't even save myself.” Wren stated, as she remembered falling into his arms instead of the rushing river. Doctor looks at her and grins. “What are you grinning for?” Wren felt confusion as she watched him look at her. “You're more than that.” The grin is off Doctor's face as he looked at her with concerned curiosity. He still couldn't figure out why the TARDIS took him there, he saved someone randomly, maybe by luck. He knew too well that there was no such thing as a coincidence. Wren felt confused.

More than that?
She had no idea what that meant. Her mind started to race, but like what was happening since she met him, no it racing so very fast. It hurt with all the many different thoughts. She could feel a stinging pain, that almost felt like fire. Doctor noticed she was struggling and he went for her quickly as she collapsed in pain. She was shaking a bit from shock. Doctor quickly laid her down, the group of superiors rushing towards her and Doctor. The crowded room of Elerians started to whisper to each other, but Doctor didn't notice as he was worried for Wren. He had no idea what was happening to her, and it made him scared. The superior stood behind Doctor as he was crouched over Wren.“This is the work of the Master.” The superior said calmly. Doctor looked up at him. “What do you mean?” He said, he never knew what the Master was capable of. But he was definitely not the safest person. “The Master has been torturing us a type of mind control.”

Doctor had no idea the Master could do that.
No, he can't. He's a Time Lord. He'd have to touch Wren, and the Elerians to do something like that. Doctors mind was racing, he had no idea of how this could happen. How could the Master do this? That question ran through his mind constantly. “We don't know, but he's doing it. Many have been driven into insanity.” The superior answered as he sadly looked down at Wren. “She must mean a lot to you.” That caused Doctor to look at the superior seriously. “I guess she does.” After Doctor said that, he turned back to Wren. He sat next to her criss-crossed. He sighed with troubled confusion. What could it be? Doctor thought as he tried to figure it out. Everything leading back to just the Master. It couldn't be just the Master since he was a Time Lord. This doesn't make sense. But it's not just the Master, he must have something or someone helping him. Doctor felt so much confusion as he pondered.

~

Wren woke up in a dark room, the last thing she remembered was feeling a burning headache. Doctor was holding her, with a light shining over him, like an angel. She chuckled at the thought. There's no such thing as a God, why angels? She thought with a bittersweet frown. She could feel tears build up. Not right now, I need to figure out where I am. She thought to herself as she held back her tears. She could hear a faint laughter outside the room, she picked herself up and headed out of the room. This must be Earth. On both sides of her were two hallways with lights hanging above her. Always long paths. Wren sighed and headed down one of them, boxes were everywhere and the air was stuffy. It definitely isn't abandoned. While still trying to figure out what was going on, she decided to just call out. “Hello! Anybody here?” There were silence for a bit after she called out, she sighed. She laid against a wall and slid down to the floor.

She hugged her knees in a defeat and stared into the darkness she created. What am I suppose to do here? I have no idea who the Master is, or even how to help the aliens. Should I keep trusting Doctor? Wrens mind started to wear down with fear as doubt took over. Wren started to feel her eyes sting as tears fell down her face. She quietly cried as thoughts of being fooled came across her. I thought I'd learn by now, not to put my trust into anyone. She whimpered as more tears streamed down her face. A loud crash of boxes could be heard down the hallway, she quickly looked up in the direction. It was a man dressed in almost all black, he looked like he had a red shirt underneath his black hoody. He had bleach blonde hair and he looked mid-age. “Who are you?” Wren asked, having no idea who he was. “I'm the Master. Hello Anna.” The man said as he walked towards her. Anna? She thought as her eyes locked with the new man. “You must have mistaken me for someone.”

After I said that, I realized he was THE Master. My heart started to race as he kept walking towards me. I quickly got to my feet, my gaze never leaving his.“Poor, poor Anna. Being nick-named 'Wren', what type of name is that? I thought 'Robin' was bad.” Master said with a grin. Wren had no idea what to say, but she knew she felt scared. “You're the Master.” She simply said still gazing into his dark hazel eyes, they looked lonely, just like the Doctor's. Master sighed in a playful annoyance. “Yes, isn't that what I said?” Master kept silent for a second, then recognized her tear stained face. “You were crying.” Master was face to face with Wren, she felt like she couldn't move. Master grinned softly as he wiped the tears from her face. “Do I scare you Anna?” Master stated as he looked deep into Wrens eyes. “My name is Wren.” She quickly stated, dodging his question. Master stayed quiet, he straightened up and rolled his eyes. “Fine, 'Wren' are you scared of me?”

Wren stayed quiet as she tried to keep her courage. “No, I'm not afraid of you, Master.” Wren coughed out as she tried to stand straight and look into his eyes. Master stayed quiet for a while. He knew she was fighting the fear. He smirked, as he took one last look at her, he twirled around. His back facing her, he walked down where he came. “Come along, 'Wren'.” He said without looking back at her. Wren noticed he was playing around, but she followed as she let out a sigh. “So, the Doctor saved you from your suicide.” Master quickly remarked. “How did you know that?” Wren asked quickly. Wondering if she was being watched constantly. “I know everything about you.” Master said as he opened a door, there was a small garden outside. It felt familiar to her, so very familiar. “What's this place?” Wren asked as she looked around, it looked like a solid garden, but it felt like it was made out of nothing. Master took a seat on a nearby bench, laying back and putting his hands on his head as a rest.

You don't know?” Master said in a sing-song voice. “Oh, 'Wren' how do you not know your first memory? Tsk tsk tsk. What shall we do about that?” Wren felt a headache coming. What's going on? What am I suppose to do? Wren couldn't think, she had no idea what he meant by 'first memory'. Master saw that she didn't remember. “Oh, I envy you. You don't remember your first memory? How sad.” Master started frown with disappointment. “You and you're parents ended up going to the park when you were three years old. You're what, seventeen now?” Wren frowned, she felt a faint bittersweet feeling. She knew he was right about her age, but she never got to know her parents. I was taken into the orphanage early. Is he messing with me? Wrens eyes wandered around the landscape. She realized it was only a little bit of area until it met into darkness. “I'm not messing with you 'Wren'.” Wren jumped. How did he know what I was thinking? Wren frowned.

Stop saying my name like that!” She felt anger build up. She had no idea what was going on, she was in a warehouse one minute, a park the next. Not only that, but he was talking about her 'first memory'. Now, don't be angry. You don't know what could happen. You might lose this chance.” Master grinned as he looked at her clenched fist, her cheeks were red. “Wren, calm down. Or else you could kill us both.” Master sounds serious, he had his hands folded and on his knee, he had his legs crossed as he looked at her. “Don't you know where we are?” Master continued in a concerned voice. “No, where are we?” Wren felt a bad feeling crawling up her as he stood up slowly and took a grin. He walked around, pulling his fingers into the darkness, as if it was a metal gate. He took a sigh of boredom as he continued to do his walking around. “I have an idea!” Master quickly exclaimed. “How about we play a game? It could help you remember, maybe. So, take the guess, and I'll say right or wrong.”
